Wanted Excel in VGC

Post by KJB3L »

Hi all - I've introduced myself previously in the appropriate section!
I am aware of all the current offerings on ebay/car & classic/forum/club lotus mag etc.
So really aiming this request at someone thinking of possibly selling their car in the near future & wanting a good home!

WANTED by myself - private/enthusiast based near Blackburn North West UK -
Healthy budget (I think) of 15k ish for the right car.

Lotus Excel must be in excellent condition
Original with good history & low owners
No colour changes
Close to the North West would be ideal (fed up of travelling & being disappointed) BUT I will travel for the right car

Please PM with any details/possibles

Thanks for reading - cheers Andrew

Happy hunting Andrew, and with that budget it should cover almost all models (possible exception on a very sorted celebration as they are now bobbing around that figure).

Thanks for that, I was put off the celebration on car & classic as the colours just didn't look right (may have been a trick of the light I suppose) but not near enough just for a look!

I do hope the interior colour for that Celebration is just a photographic misrepresentation, because those cars do work really well as a colour scheme. That said, there is a photo that includes both a Lotus badge and the interior, and in that the interior colour still looks off but the yellow of the badge is as expected, so I'm not convinced.

Andrew. I presume you've clocked the one lady owner, always garaged 83/84 Excel in the July Club Lotus News.?

One lady owner for it's entire lifetime?? If true, surely the only person that could be would be the recently departed Hazel Chapman. It apparently always was her favourite Lotus. If it is hers, that would be a HELL of an important car to preserve!

Checked the ad in CLN - it’s one owner from new - doesn’t specify lady. Registration letters are CCA so not Norfolk afaik.

Cheers, Richard

Shame, that slightly spoils my theory! CA is Chester, apparently.

I think, in the distant past, Ive spoken to the owner of that car and they are multiple lotus owners who couldnt part with an old friend until now.......if Im right.
I think it was on the north Wales weekend organised by the Cheshire group, Chester would fit.

Hi all

Thanks for the interest in my ad - now sorted with a vehicle! (non lotus I'm afraid) - typically now all sorts seen to be turning up!
The one advertised in Club Lotus news does appear to be a good car but if I now bought another car I'd get shot!

Cheers

Maybe next time then. There's always another chance.
Enjoy the new car. Dare we ask what it is?

Of course -
BMW E30 1.8is
I'm sure I'll have another Lotus at some point - but either my Imp or Scimitar will have to go first.
Cheers
