I would have used something similar if I didn't need the original pedal to control the gearbox. I'll still look at linear servos one day!

The original petrol tank in the Elite is only supported over its the forward half by the split-level boot floor. It clearly causes no problems with the steel tank but I wanted my aluminium tank better supported so I've added a little more support at the rear:

Once the extra hose comes next week (didn't order enough!) I can get the tank, swirl pot, pump and filter installed!

That blends in quite nicely with the rest of the fiberglass - not something many will ever notice. They may notice the upgrades to the engine though

Maybe I'll make it like a modern car where you can't even see the engine when you lift the bonnet - I could get a full-sized poster of a standard 907 and put it in there like a "vanity" cover!

I don't plan on posting up the complete engine build (just a few of the non-standard bits :D ) but thought I'd just put up a shot of the liner clamp I've made for the job - others may find it useful. Technically you don't need a liner clamp with Loctite 572 but seeing as I'm a belt-and-braces kind of guy I prefer using one - especially when you see that the Loctite around the liner flanges is still completely uncured (still in fresh air)! I don't like the factory type of clamps - more likely to tilt a liner if not really carefully used.

Made from 6mm mild steel (I'll get it plated later) and leaving room for home-made tapered piston ring compressor. The nuts are just nipped up:

Looks like a neat bit of kit Pete! All these jobs you have to do to allow you to do the job that you actually need to do add plenty to the build time!

Beyond professional! 8)

A video of you (your face within shot), torquing down the head, would be fascinating. :)

It's a very stressful process at the best of times, but I guess given the investment in that engine, your cortisol levels will be through the roof!
