Autocar supplement 1979

Post by richardw »

I bought this Autocar special supplement a few days ago. It’s from January 1979, and covers the Elite, Eclat and Esprit family of Grand Tourers! Here are a few pages:

Cheers, Richard that's a really interesting article. I have never heard of a 7 with the 907 engine, a 912 in a seven would be fun.

(Lotus Excel with a full engine....only kidding, theres nothing wrong with 1/2 an engine !)
I will get my coat.

Nice one Richard. How do you make it big enough to read?

The dark brown Elite appears to have the same lighter brown / tan vinyl roof as my gold one of the same(ish) year. They must have bought a whole roll of it !

Magazine articles at this time seemed to contain a lot more facts, which is really useful when when is trying to obtain knowledge about our cars.
Today, they seem to speculate on new car launches in 6 months time.
Well done for taking the effort to print the article for us all to see. Marcus

Nice one Richard. Interesting that the Esprit was slower and used more petrol than the Elite :D

I never realised that the weight difference was so close, 1 fat passenger really.
