Ive just checked on the dvla database and its only showing 126, but, the sorn figures are much more. But, I was wondering how many don't tax thier car in the winter, I tax mine all year around but is the low figure because its a winter figure ?

Re: How many left
I think the historic status is corrupting these figures now.
I suspect that when registered as historic, the taxed box doesn't need ticking, so it disappears from the count of taxed cars on the road.
I'm seeing this with older cars on the register when I check them on DVLA. It says Untaxed, but often there is a live MOT.

Re: How many left
That would explain numbers going down, the last time I checked it was over 150. Good point, Im still curious if any of us just tax for the summer like a lot of bikers do.

I thought that you had to tax it as a historic, just that the tax is zero?
My Excel is on the road all year round. Parked in the office car park as I type this reply.

Interesting. I’m registering mine for historic status from next month so I’ll see if the figures dip by 1!
Actually if there is an effect then maybe it could be seen as a drop in numbers registered of 1981 cars vs 1982 for example. However it’s not a great sample size!
Cheers Richard

Re: How many left
As above, if historic you still have to tax it, the rate is just zero. If off the road you still have to declare it SORN.
