Paul Robinshaw, who some may know from racing Elans and writing books sometimes attends shows with Club Lotus Staffs. At the last show we attended together he gave me a carrier bag full of old magazines and other Lotus related information. A couple of items of interest for this forum below.

Yes, the switch illumination on the Elite/Eclat S2 and the pre-SE Excel was from a fibreoptic distribution unit used on Rover SD1s and Jags of the era. One projec5 on the long list of things I might do one day is to replace these with a string of white LEDs off an old Christmas set, as the fibre is quite bulky and awkward to route, as well as being very faint.
