Lotus Excel SE Speedo Cable

Hello!

The two part Speedo cable is obsolete!

A single cable is being sold because of that @ a high price.

I also experienced @ about 1500 miles the replacement cable centre spinning wire busted.

Does anyone know which car these replacement cables originate from?

Two part cables are for cruise control only. Is yours with cruise control?

SJ Sportcars list the speedo cable for £35.10 (+VAT +Postage). A quick wander round eBay suggests this is in the same ballpark as the cost of speedo cables for several other randomly-selected cars, so it doesn't look to be overpriced.

They also list a separate cable for cruise control, at a similar price.

That said, SJs have been known to list stuff for sale that they don't have in stock, and in some cases is NLA, so the existence on their price list is no guarantee.

I have no idea if the cable is borrowed from any other car or is bespoke to Lotus. The cable changed with the change from Smiths to VDO instruments.
