88 excel oil leak

Post by mk2zetec »

afternoon all
i have an 88 excel which has a significant leak from the upper cam bank which is leaking oil into the spark plug wells. I understand from some googling that’s it’s the cam tower So it’s belt off before removing. Is there a step by step guide anywhere! Any help appreciated! Rgds

Have you refitted the cam cover before you do the tower?

Mine didnt leak until i removed and painted the covers

Measure and note the valve clearances before you remove the cam housings. Measure and note the cam end float before you remove them. Fit the new oil seals to the cam housings before you put them on.
