What are these?

Post by Zaphod »

found these in the bag containing the bolts for the engine to bellhousing. I find no mention of them or illustrations showing them in the service notes. They do fit round the bellhousing bolts

They look like locating dowels to me. If so, their job is to ensure a more perfect location between the parts than the bolt can provide, because the bolts have a bit of clearance in their holes. Are there shallow larger holes counterbored into the bolt holes in the engine rear face and bellhousing front face? There may be these rollpin/dowels already fitted in these holes on one side or the other.

Definitely not the locating dowels for the bell housing/engine - they are solid dowels - and I think the bell housing/gearbox are too. They look like the sliding dowels you might find on an alternator fixing.

They have a much thicker wall on them than the Alternator dowels
