Throttle cable solution

Post by Johnwindwood »

Guys
Our car came with a non-standard throttle cable-plain ended at the carb end. It had been fed through the nipple bush and secured with two choc block electrical connectors! It worked well though so we left well alone.
Anyway, when we went on our tour of the North recently, the cable suddenly became disconnected on an uphill downshift. When I looked, it was clear that the cable had jumped and the nipple bush had exited the building, disconnecting the cable. I managed to bodge it to get us home but found a more permanent solution on eBay. This barrel fits the carb connectors perfectly and takes a plain cable (Or one on which the nipple is no longer present.) It works a treat.

Might help someone out?
Cheers.
Kind regards

John

Might get away with a Sturmey Archer pinch bolt too for less than £4.

I suspect not- too small to fit through the linkage. The one I used is a perfect fit and cannot fall out.
Kind regards

That's a nice spot, Surprised they are available. Should go in the alternative parts section.
Cheers, Phil
