Angus' thread on the subject - http://www.lotusexcel.net/phpbb/viewtop ... =capillary. Well worth getting one for when (not if) the otter switch fails - or before it fails (if you want to save your head gasket....)

Well, if I was right all the time I'd get to be predictable!

Got round to fitting it today.

First job that hasn't;
Give me a bad back
Induced bleeding from three fingers
taken 3 days longer than expected

or all three of the above.

When the otter switch fails, does it fail in the 'fan on' position or can it stick in the on or off position
:?:
Cheers,

Phil

Mine failed in the 'fan stays off and cooks your engine' position. Unfortunately I had let my wife borrow the Excel. She doesn't like trying to fit it in the garage (OK, there is a motorcycle there as well so it is a snug fit), so she left it ticking over on the drive. When I got in the temperature gauge was just under 100 - heater full on and got it in the garage ASAP. And that was how I came to write the 'how to' for cylinder head gasket replacement.............

The HUD is a bit too "Kit" dont think you could pull it off without a black excel with a red pulsing LED strip on the front bumper ;)
