Bad earth seems to be the fault of an issue I'm having with the headlights.
Has anyone a diagram showing the earth point locations on the car (1992 SE)

If it’s any help, on my Elite the earth point for headlamps, engine etc is on the offside inner wing in the engine compartment. It is bolted through the fibreglass to the chassis.
