Front side/indicator lights

For all those wiring gremlins we love, this is the place to discuss them.

Front side/indicator lights

Post by Alan_M »

I have Lucas ones fitted to one, but the lenses are not in great shape, nor are the rear sections. Is it a straight swap to replace these with the Cobo units? Do the Lucas ones have any advantages over the Cobo units to justify the considerable price difference for new ones?

The COBOS are fine. You wont notice a difference. I believe fordson tractor light was the source. Search tractor spares to find them cheap. If the backs are still intact you could just get a new lens and do the LED lamp insert I have done

edit massey ferguson seems better choice

As stated above. I used Malpas tractors at a fiver each:-

Bit of a faff to fit to Lucas casing but doable with shorter screws.

Believe they do the whole lamp at 18 quid a pop.

Thanks. Didn’t know it was possible to fit the Cobo lens to the Lucas back.

And, if you want that look, you can remove the orange lacquer from the lens and end up with a clear lens (I don't think you can with Lucas , as I think it's orange plastic rather than a coating). On a red car I think I'd leave it orange, but on silver etc it can look nicer.
