CDL retrofit question

Was wondering if later cars[mine is an 87] were wired for central locking even if not fitted. The stock actuators are not crazy and I thought about buying a remote system and integrating it

Hi, I was under the impression that all Excels post '86 had Central locking fitted as Standard. Perhaps that only applies to the SE though. Have you removed the door cards to check that the actuators aren't actually fitted?
Maybe a previous owner had disconnected them due to probs.
