Warning about Fram PH2857A Oil Filters

Post by mattpone »

Imagine my surprise as I go to change the oil filter with the exact same make and code number, only to find the thread is deeper on the replacement and I cant screw it it on!

(New one on left - old one on right, rubber removed)

Very frustrating! I had the same feelings when Lotus changed its oil filter, making it slightly longer in the body so that it could not be manoeuvred into place without modifications to the distributor! I have been using the Halfords HOF 202 filter for several years now with absolutely no issues.
