Which Antifreeze?

Re: Which Antifreeze?
ive always used traditional "blue" antifreeze in all cars pre 1990. Bluecol usually but any known brand will do. Usually mixed about 40% anti freeze, 60% water. Change it and flush it every 2 or 3 years with no problems seen or heard!
I REALISED YOU CANT LIVE WITHOUT A LOTUS!!! Until now

This might get me murdered on here, but this blue, non-OAT, ethylene glycol-based coolant is in my Eclat:

Re: Which Antifreeze?
After being swayed by the articles re OAT I've flushed my cooling system and refilled with good old 2 year Bluecol. It's a given that Bluecol is compatible with the engine so better safe than sorry.KevW wrote:When I changed my anti-freeze I did so after taking advice from a (very) old school Lotus specialist based near the south coast. Having said that after reading the articles posted here it appears to me the only 100% risk free option is to stick with using the traditional ethylene glycol anti freeze.

I just bought some Prestone today for the Excel to put in. The guy at euro said it is really good stuff and can go in any vehicle.Qwertyco wrote: Wed Nov 14, 2018 10:42 I put Prestone in my Subaru at 50k miles, and when I blew it up at 100k and stripped
it down it was like new in all the waterways.
The condition of the big ends was less impressive, but unrelated.
I haven't seen daylight in 17 years now i have been finally rescued

I assume any non-oat stuff is OK for topping up but will have a look in Tesco. Bought my last antifreeze from the local car shop, Motoquip I think it is.
