Advice

Post by joohn101 »

Been offered a G reg Excel, excellent resprayed condition, lovely interior, assured of mechanical perfection, 96 000 miles, asking £8995.
It is a specialist Lotus dealer and I'm sure he'll negotiate but is this way over the top?
I want to be an Excel owner but need guidance, any opinions greatly appreciated.

You should be able to buy two good Excels for that! I sold a car similar to the one you describe for £3600 about two years ago. I'd keep looking.

It's "UK Sports Cars" at Wingham near Canterbury.
Parker's list no info on the excel, neither do What Car or Classic Car. Quite a lottery. If anyone's selling one I'd like to heart about it.
Thanks for your help guys.

Oh dear, I wouldn't if I were you,

There is a supercharged excel at Sportmotive for that sort of money, early car fully retrimmed etc.

But as it has already been stated you can get a very nice car for a lot less.

I've no personal dealings with UK SC but I've been warned off them.

I'm looking for a late model Excel too, there are a few about but nothing that quite fits me. There's a nice looking blue non leather one on Ebay and a nice red/tan leather one at http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C26333. I've spoken to the latter bloke and it sounds a nice car but it doesn't have air con which is quite important to me.

The green UK Sports Cars SA that was on Ebay has just been delisted I see so it looks like they sold it.

I do know of one other really nice one but I'm not telling you about that one as I'm working on it. 8)

If it didn't have Nitrous I'd be tempted.
