Calypso Red Lotus Excel SE 1989
Including Private plate, unfinished project

All leather interior in good condition
Galvanised chassis, no rot
Good engine clutch and gearbox. 48000 miles.
5 wheels in good condition, tyres good but old.
Lots of Excel documentation/history

The car is stripped ready for painting. It has typical red paint issues of the era. Everything worked prior to stripping down.

Much work done including:-
Cambelt replaced
Reconditioned water pump fitted
New shock absorbers, springs
Polybushes
Reconditioned steering rack
Diff bracket strengthened
Brake pipes replaced
Clutch slave and master cylinder replaced
New throttle cable fitted!
New Mini headlamp conversion
Plywood crash structures replaced
Door beams have been powder coated
Drivers side door s/s hinge pin and rebushed

Etc, etc

Comes with:-
New high quality carpets
New headlining
NOS original fog lights supplied (rare and expensive)
New middle trim
3D printed trim ends
New bonnet insulation
New o/s window frame + powder coated n/s window frame
Veneer for dash (if you want to recreate the original look)
Good door locks
Lots more

Doors, bumpers, boot, bonnet, carpets, trims etc removed
Dashboard removed
Seats, interior removed
Windscreen removed

Just about all parts there to complete, nothing major apart from it does
need a windscreen. (Available from Lotus bits or SJ sports cars)

I’ve had this car about 4 years, it has been kept dry in my garage. I am needing to create some space so reluctantly it’s sadly time for it to move on.

I'm trying to put together a list of cars currently for sale, for the NEC Resto Show, we often have people asking about buying one when they visit the stand. Happy to include yours, but I could do with a photo!

Thanks for confirming that it’s still for sale. Unfortunately it’s too late now to include it in the “cars for sale” list I put together for the NEC Resto Show this weekend.

Where else have you advertised it, if anywhere? I checked the 6 or 7 most obvious sales sites on the internet and yours wasn’t amongst those I found.

You can add pictures to this site if they are hosted somewhere else (another website or a photo store platform) like this: {img}www.website.com/photo.jpg{/img} except use square brackets instead of curly ones. We do not have direct photo upload to this site.

That’s a shame I missed the deadline. Your forum notification email went into my junk mail so I wasn’t aware until yesterday.

I am 50/50 about selling the car, but in reality it’s probably better going to someone with the enthusiasm to finish it. I only advertised it on this site, I really need to pull my finger out.
