1987 Lotus Excel SE Black Badge

Good evening everyone,

So as some may have seen i have been looking into parting with my Black Badge Excel SE. Which i have now decided to do so here is my add. I will say I am not in a rush to get rid of her but i thought i would put it up on here and Lotus Forum first then it will go on the other sites. Just to let you all know that the Private plate XAI8881 has been removed and the new plate is E570VOX.

So as you all know before i got my hands on her last year she spent 17 years sat in a garage untouched. Then i finally got my hands on her and that’s where the restoration came into play please see below to the link to my project page. The car now comes with a years MOT expires 31.10.2023.

So what was done:

• Years MOT 31.10.2023
  86K
  New disc plus pads on the rear – will come with another set of rear discs
  New pads on the front – discs has a fair amount of life left but couldn’t find new discs at the time
  New braided hoses all round
  new brake pipes at the rear
  Callipers reconditioned all round
  Master Cylinder Reconditioned
  new shocks all round
  new front springs and rears sandblasted and powder coated
  new ball joints and steering joints
  new bushes on the front
  new cambelt + tensioner
  Full service = oil, oil filter, coolant, fuel filter and air filter
  replacement exhaust system including downpipe (Lotus Bits)
  reconditioned Rad 3 core, thermostat plus some pipe
  rebuilt carbs
  painted engine covers
  powder coated wheels in a gold colour plus new rubber
  stainless steel rear seatbelt brackets
  Brand new waist line trim 15 metres plus carrier strip for both doors not fitted but will be given to the new owner as i would respray the car first

The bad bits:

• could do with a full paint job due to lacquer peel and scratches but is a daily runner
  part of the waist line trim has been pulled off the NS door but new trim and carrier come with the car
  scratch / chip to the fiberglass on the NSF of the car
  headlining is sagging
  could do with wheels being balanced

It is a heavy heart that i am looking to sell the Lovely Lotus but i can at least be proud and happy that i have brought her back to travel once again on the British roads and i have finally been able to driver her. I am not in a rush to let her go and i know she does need some work to finish her off but she has have thousands spent on her and won't let her just go for nothing. Please feel free to speak to @Sparky / Gary at Watford Exotics on the Lotus forum as he did the cambelt and a lot of other work to her so knows her inside and out or you can speak to @Hawaiis0 / Stu as he also helped with the car.
