Anyone know this Elite?

Post by TrevorK »

Tempted by this Elite on Ebay. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/115052502207 ... SwppVg4wac

Does anyone know it? It's near Gloucester so I wouldn't be able to view it until Monday at the soonest.
What car is that?

I dont know it but having had my v8 in an excel for about 5 years now, out of about 27 years of ownership, I think the v8 is a better car. If you want to get rid of the bonnet hump fit a john wolf racing inlet manifold, an edelbroc 4 barrel carb and a pancake filter. It would be worth checking its diff ratio to make sure that its got longer legs too.
There are a couple of v8 elite / eclats on the ' lotus forums', they may know the car.

Looks very appealing (wheels marginal). Even the bulge has been done well (for a bulge) in contrasting black. Interior is to die-for.

I'd like to look into the apparent chassis damage at the front mind you. Looks like someone has jacked it at the front crossmember - it's dented and possibly bent/warped slightly from photo.

Looks like manual steering rack? Not a bad thing as long as those rims are the right offset and haven't made the steering heavy. I had a 501 Elite and the manual steering was good but the geo has to be spot-on.

Check the rear crossmember for rust too, despite power coating.

On balance it still appeals to me - it's an Elite afterall! :D

I've seen photos of this car before but I can't remember when. The front chassis crossmember is a characteristic of a Spyder restoration - probably in the '80s. Interesting car.

I was very tempted by this the last twice it’s been on eBay. The last time it was on it sold for £5250

Just rang and it’s been sold. I wonder whether it will turn up on here?
