Re: Convertable Eclat
In part?? Other than the world's saggiest roof, and the roll cage, it looks to be 100% Lotus.
Not sure I'd trust that roof to remain on the car above 30mph, let alone be in any way watertight.
If a less ugly roll cage could be devised (I'm guessing complete removal would remove too much structural strength and rigidity from the body), and a properly deploying cabrio top, this could be a very good-looking car.
I have neither the time, the money, the skills, nor the space to find out.

Hammond's attempt looked better than May's mind you.amarshall wrote:Which episode of Top Gear was it rejected from ?
So this was probably Jezza'a attempt before the others took the pi$$ and he conceded.

Is there anything like a watertight Lotus in this time, on this planet??rbgosling wrote:, let alone be in any way watertight.
It looks better to me than the blue Frankenstein experiment. Slightly...
Perhaps the best looking convertible when closed.

Well I can see where they were coming from with this, there are hints of the BMW Baur conversions in that roll bar thing with a bit of work and a squint although I wonder if the for - aft bits are actually connected to the hoop. Probably more Jack Bauer than Baur! And have you seen how much Pagoda roofed Mercs are going for? Heres a Pagoda roofed Eclat.
