A former Lotus designer has two very interesting Elites that he may consider selling.
One is the first press car, GEX 158N unit no. 74/100366A used in several book illustrations. It briefly had a Rover V8 installed for ACBC by Lotus engineer Ian Fettes, but that is long gone, and there is a standard 907 in it now. The other is I believe the earliest production car. Both need absolutely everything doing but would be good for a Lotus fanatic to tackle.
They have been standing outside for a long time and the chassis on GEX has probably turned to dust. One of the interiors has been dry stored.
I don’t know much more than that but if you are seriously interested in either of these cars email me on rwoollaston@gmail.com (don’t use the message board chat as it doesn’t always work)
Cheers
Richard

Fascinating project, especially for this 50th Anniversary year. If only I had the time. And money. And facilities.

Yes it would be and I feel the same! I am in indirect touch with the owner and have asked how difficult it would be to remove the car from his garden. If it is feasible and we have the right help, what do you think about featuring it on our stand at the Restoration show next year? Just a thought….
Also I have you down for the Classic show on the Sunday so you can take the kit away for the restoration show - is that ok this year?

Yes, if achievable it would be great to have it on the stand for the Resto show. I think a car that is ripe for a thorough restoration would be a real draw to the stand, somehow that seems more fascinating to many people than an immaculate shiny car (witness the popularity of the "Barn Find" display). And with the significance and story of the car that adds some interest too. Who knows, if no-one has yet stepped up to take on the project, maybe a show visitor could be tempted...richardw wrote: ↑Tue Oct 15, 2024 11:20Yes it would be and I feel the same! Yes, I'm very happy to come along on Sunday to man the stand and bring the display kit home.

I have a suitable trailer with manual winch if that would help when you are ready to collect /move it (them?) ?

Re: Not for the faint hearted!
Thanks guys - and especially Andy with the trailer. I’ll get back to him to see if he is interested and try to establish how reachable the car currently is.

Norfolk (near Norwich)
I’ve asked if we can have some pics. We probably need to get over to see it to find out if it can be rolled onto a trailer and how accessible it is - but that is a task for after the show.
Cheers, Richard
