So the £20k one posted by Stu above seems to have found a buyer, but the car that started this thread is back on bidding at C&C for the umpteenth time. Only £5k currently, but 7days before auction finishes.
Advert repeats that it has done few miles since a full resto in 2016. IMO this is a negative and seems the price expectation is not factoring this in.

Re: Celebration for sale
Yes, all very dodgy. But a number of folk have noticed that (even superficially) the condition isn't commensurate with the asking price, despite the rarity and intrinsic value of the Celebration facelift.
EG the wheels are woefully scrappy, the trim colour is suspect, the mileage is high, and the distraction of 108+ pictures leaves the astute amongst us wondering about the REAL mechanical condition that simply can't be captured by photographs.

Re: Celebration for sale
I wonder how many of the final iteration post 89 excels were made, cant have been many (the single bonnet vent variant) the celbration might actually be the most common variant!AndyC wrote: ↑Thu Jun 09, 2022 08:48I agree re SE Vs Celebration price. There's a certain premium because each is just one of 35 in that specific colour combo. Re the red ones, well the jury is out as to whether they are Celebration models or just red SE cars with all the other options of a Celebration.

Re: Celebration for sale
There were 40 Celebrations made, and 35 Post Celebrations. Interestingly there is one car with chassis number in the middle of the celebration series, but isn't declared as a Celebration. This car is Blue.I wonder how many of the final iteration post 89 excels were made, cant have been many (the single bonnet vent variant) the celbration might actually be the most common variant!
The first 35 Celebrations are Green and the last 5 are all Red.
I don't recognise the reference to a single vent bonnet. My car is one of the 35 run out cars and definitely has 3 vents, same as Celebrations. Anyone able to elaborate.
Or did it ? How long before we see it back on sale? The Celebration on Car and Classic went for £10,500

Re: Celebration for sale
I think one of us should view the car then report back here on the condition along with an honest (and hopefully, positive) estimate of relative worth?
Where is it?
I'd go if it's doable given petrol costs, and assuming the seller isn't hostile to the idea in any way.

Re: Celebration for sale
The Celebration first mentioned by Phil, H15XEL, and supposedly sold for £17K is in the Classic Car Auctions sale on 24th September.
It is with a guide price of £12K - £15K.
Something odd here. The CCA site even has the same photos.

Re: Celebration for sale
If it was to reach the upper end of that guide price, it would end up costing the buyer more than the £17k of a previous auction elsewhere, (£14,782 + 12.5 + 2.5% (VAT on the 12.5%).

Re: Celebration for sale
And it’s lost 100,000 miles !!
At least in previous auction they were honest about the total mileage and not just mention the indicated mileage.
