dunlop sport 9000s
Just had 4 new Dunlop Sport 215\50\15s fitted. Sourced from Germany, fitted, balanced and valves for £482.00. Actually the cost as quoted was £542.00 but Dunlop currently have a fuel voucher promotion (until end Sept) worth £40.00 and my local tyre fitting place knocked £25.00 off because they damaged one of the centre caps on the alloys. Luckily replacements are about a tenner from SJs so I'm not too upset.
Only driven 3 miles home but the car seems to ride a bit better and is quieter too. An unexpected result as the old tyres were also Dunlop Sport 9000s, they were nearly 9 years old though. Interestingly the bill for the old ones was £485.00 so the price doesn't seemed to have changed much in that time.

Re: dunlop sport 9000s
Sadly the Dunlop SP9000 215/50/15 ZR is no longer listed at Delticom in Germany - I guess the last of their stocks have gone.
Since Dunlop do not list that size of tyre on their website I suppose that is it.

Re: dunlop sport 9000s
I have a question in this tire matter to you in GB
Here in Sweden at a car this old as our excels, no one say anything about if you have 205's or 225's instead of the 215's that are so hard to find.
I've been using both 205 and 225's and found the 225's having an exeptional cornering , but the 205's till better than i'm capabel of driving the car.
From 2015 i'll run on 215 x 45x16
and i guess neither the police nor the MOT will say anything about it.
So my question to you is, Are you by law reqired to have the original 215 x 50x 15 ?
This looks as a problem , as that specific size is so hard to find.

Re: dunlop sport 9000s
Dunlop sp9000s are still plentiful in 205/50/15 as it is a common size.
Having changed up to 16 inch wheels 215/45/16 is the way I would go every time now.
Stretched over a 7.5 inch wise wheel though as it squares the sidewalls up.
The AD08Rs I'm using I would highly recommend

What would be the best option for the early 14" speedlines?

Re: dunlop sport 9000s
the only tires which have the right speed index are: Kenda Kaiser 20 in 205/60/14 88Vwonderplatinum wrote:What would be the best option for the early 14" speedlines?
which I have now on my Eclat
Grip in the dry: better than good in the wet: again better than good. Suits the car very well and seems to be matched to the handling abilities of the car. No compare to the crap Dunlop S9000 for the Excel. In every case superior to this awfull tire.

Re: dunlop sport 9000s
When I looked for this size about 5 months ago, there were 4 available.
In price order:
- A really cheap one, can't remember the name (budget)
- Nexen
- Falken
- Nankang
Sorry I can't remember the part numbers but price ranged from £55 to 95 per corner fitted

Re: dunlop sport 9000s
I had Kenda tyres on my 240Z and I have done with the same set:
3 hill climbs
3 track days
1 classic rally
and more thar 6 000 km
Not a track day tyre by far but it was the only one left in my size and I was amazed by the results. They are #1 in cycling tyres not an obscure far east tyre maker. The Tyres in action at Montlhery

Still for sale here, wether they have any is, of course, another matter.

Re: dunlop sport 9000s
My next tyre change will be 225x45x15 toyo 888s on the back and 215x50x15 toyo t1rs on the front. After using them both on track and road I am hooked on them. Really good in wear and stunning in grip.

Re: dunlop sport 9000s
I had a pair of SP9000 215/50/15s from my local supplier recently. He had to ring around a couple of places but managed to get them in 2 days.

Re: dunlop sport 9000s
To answer your question Stell in the UK we don't have to fit the original 215x15 tyres by law. As long as the wheels and tyres don't catch on any other part of the car and the tyre treads are contained within the wheel arches we can legally fit whatever size we want.STELL wrote:I have a question in this tire matter to you in GB

ps I've tried 205, 215 and 225 sizes and I have to say I like the 215 Dunlops on my car.

Re: dunlop sport 9000s
So do I, which is why I have a small tyre rack in my garage with six 215 Dunlops (stored in tyre covers) bought about three months ago.KevW wrote:

Two are about to go on the front wheels.
