Dunno which is 'correct' but I perfer black ON silver, which suits the rim, makes it more integrated, more classy-looking.
The pics wiith silver on black centres show two versions, one Chapman era, one Wickens, which in itself suggests originality ... but the black on silver version, even if non-original, looks better IMHO.

Re: Iron cross wheels
I’m trying to get speedline badges made to match the original on the right- the printing seems to be faded gold, in thinking it used to be black, can anyone confirm? The background colour… was it brushed silver or did it have a tinted lacquer to make it gold’ish? Hard to tell from my knackered originals! Cheers!
I’m getting a black rim printed on the badge as I’m not using the hideous circlips, so it’s just to represent it being there.

Re: Iron cross wheels
I have scanned a photo from an original brochure, and it shows it black on silver.

Re: Iron cross wheels
First time I seen white tyre letters on an Excel. Looks good!
Might do mine now (but I need to get 4 decent tyres on her first).
Clan has been white lettered for a while now.

Re: Iron cross wheels
Instead of the standard circlips, which easily damage the wheels when being removed, I am using these stainless wire circlips:

Thanks for the tip Richard, they look a better proposition than standard!
