You can't just chop a bit off the springs - they are finished flat. I have a spare set you could borrow if you want to fetch them (don't want to get into posting them) - I'm not too far away! We may even get back into the Peak District for a walk before too long!

Lol.....and yes as I said
I know I can't just chop the spring......and didn't want to ......the guy on Facebook was the one who said he'd removed one coil......now whether he had them remade or just chopped i don't know.....
Either way...I did t want to chop the springs......but did fancy reducing them the try to see what it'd look like before getting a set made.......lol
Cheers
Gareth

OK
Springcoil in Sheffield can make these no problem.....
they just want a front spring and a rear spring to work with.......not to do anything with other than get the original spec
they can make the uprated spring at £50 a corner........
......just need to get my car back to get the springs off......lol

I've got a couple of Fronts and one rear spring in the garage that came off an Elite from around 76. Don't know if the car had A/C (different springs on A/C and non A/C for Fronts).
I'll l dig them out and measure wire, length and diameters later today and post what I find.

Some measurements from a 76 Elite.
Front:
11.7mm wire dia. Total length 485mm
80.5mm ID, 103.9mm OD
14.75 winds in total, including the closed ends.

Rear:
11mm wire dia. Total length 405mm
Bottom end, 59.5mm ID, 81.5mm OD
Top end, 86.5 mm ID, 108.5 mm OD.
14 winds, including the closed ends.
Pitch between last wind at top end = 42mm
Pitch between last wind at bottom end = 23.5mm

Hope that helps in some way.
