interior blower switch
My blower only works on two speeds, I or IIII. Both speeds II & III operate but on the lowest fan speed.
Any Idea fella's

Mine was the same. The rheostat was at fault.
Take out the "secret panel" at the back of the glovebox and you can access it. Some of the connecter leads were a bit iffy on mine from memory or on the wires leading to it). Now I have 1,2,3,and 4 speed fan.
Good luck, let me know how you get on

It's almost certainly the resistor pack which is mounted in the blower housing. This failed on my car and is a common failure on the donor toyota.
It's pretty tricky to get at, mounted near the top of the blower housing behind the passenger side dash, but once you get it out, you will see three coils of wire, the thinnest (slowest speed) will most likely have corroded to the point of fracturing.

Same problem appeared on my Excel-heater fan works on position 1 and 4 only. The car is an '89 build with aircon.
Check the service manual-section PC,page 11 and there it is-fan speed resistor block.Get to toyota and order the part 87138-24011.Due Monday.
So today I get a chance to have a look-see.Remove glovebox panel-no sign of the thing
The blower unit mounts directly to the evaporator-so no ducting to the heater matrix as in non A/C models.
The service manual gives a good idea what the resistor block looks like, but not in location-any clues much appreciated

It's a case of "head in the footwell" ... look for a clump of wires leading up the rear of the heater unit that don't lead to the fan motor. These wires end up higher. You will eventually find the resistor block. pull the connector from it and then there is only one (I think) screw holding the resistor block into the ducting. You probably want one of those screwdriver ratchets that look like a small 1/4 drive wrench.
Oh, and get someone lined up to give you a neck massage afterwards, you'll need it

Went to Toyota to pick up the resistor pack-the part number previously mentioned does not fit-has 2 screw location plus stud plus short cable-nothing like the original!
According to the parts guy Toyota modified the resistor pack(due to failure I'd imagine) and is the only one available for Australia.
Anyone know the part number so I can try in the UK?
Its a 1989 model-so '86-on aircon version.
(part has single screw location)

Re: interior blower switch
I am suffering from a 2-speed, only, interior blower at the moment. I replaced the rheostat ('orrible job) to no good effect. I suspect the connector behind the glovebox is iffy but cannot trace this component in the workshop manual. Has anyone replaced this? And, if so, with what?
