New Seat Covers - Cost, Suppliers?

Post by rbgosling »

OK, after two years Heather and I have finally come to accept that she's never going to find time to finish sewing new seat covers for me. Turns out having a full time job, two small children, and two Border Collies (as well as a regular rowing) doesn't leave her with much spare time...

So, we're going to pay someone to do it.

Anyone had their seats professionally recovered before? How much did you pay? Does anyone have any suggestions / recommendations (preferably not too far from Northampton!).

So far I've emailed 3 places, had one response from someone trading as Stitchworx (but I suspect is just one woman) near Daventry - she says her prices typically start at £675 for a pair of front seats (plus materials, but I've already bought the materials so that's sorted), and she can't start until June/July.

Hi Richard, if looking for somewhere localish I would suggest joining the Facebook group of a local classic car club and asking for recommendations on there.

Good idea, I’m already on such a group, I’ll try them.

Hi Richard,

I don't have any personal experience of these but they are very highly spoken of in these parts - Car Interior, 73 Rugby Rd, Hinckley LE10 0QA (so not too far from you), no website, phone 01455 637585, his name is Mark and been at it for over 25 years

Thanks Peter, I'll give them a try.

Alan, your idea of plumbing the knowledge of my local car group was worthwhile, they came up with several suggestions, including more recommendations for the one place I've already tried.

I shall send out some feelers and feed back how I get on...

Richard, company called Workshop Seventy7 in Weedon Bec.
Friend of a friend works there. I believe they do automotive as well as general trimming.

Just looked at their web site. Maybe they are fully automotive.
They like the German stuff.
