Footwell trim material?

Post by MetBlue »

What should the material be on the footwell vertical trims on post 89 Excels, (ideally the Celebrations with otherwise full leather interior) be.
I'm talking about the piece immediately to the right of your foot as you drive.

Mine is carpet, but different to the rest of the car carpet. I'm thinking it might originally be leather or Vinyl, but in this location would easily get pretty tatty very quickly.

Thanks guys.
I checked out the parts list and that confirms its carpet. Shame mine is not quite a match to the rest of the car (which was replaced a couple of years back using Coverdale product).

My 74 Elite has vinyl covered panels, but I do recall they scuff up badly. I'm now questioning whether the Elite is correct or whether that should have carpet.

So...... New question. What should the material be on a 1974 Elite?

I'll try and dig mine out of the loft and have a look but I have a vague memory that they may be vinyl.

On my S2 Elite those panels are leather.

Well - I've looked in the loft and they are not there . So I've no idea where they are! If they turn up I'll let you know!

Thread high jack - But I started it, so I'm entitled

We were discussing Elite centre console "wood" trays on the zoom last night Peter. Turns out I have 2 spare of each size.

There are two sizes : 245 x 135 and 230 x 140. I have two chrome surround in good nick, plus a split one.

If you think any of this is usefull to you, I'll put it aside.

If toother Peter is reading, there's also a chrome trim cap as used on your car. Generally it is still chromed, but is lifting in a number of places. Again, no use to me if you want me to put it aside.

Thanks very much Tony - I'll temporarily fit a dashboard over the weekend and take some measurements around the gear lever/handbrake area. I still have the old manual gear lever panel to measure as well.
