Rear badge attachment

Post by rbgosling »

Anyone got a good suggestion of the best way to re-attach the rear "Excel" badge after my respray? I'm wondering about No More Nails, or double-sided sticky foam pads, but I suspect there's a better answer.

I used Black Tac to mount my rear badges. No danger of damage to the paintwork and they can be easily removed when doing a spring clean. It also means in the unlikely event someone wants to pinch the badges at least there would be no damage to the bodywork

3M Acrylic Plus Tape PT1100 is the proper stuff.

Sounds marvellous. Anyone got 4" of this stuff to spare? Not sure I really need to buy 20m of the stuff for £25, I've no use for the remaining 19.9m...

I've got spare narrow tape that will do the job. 2 or 3 strips fitted close together then trimmed around should work well.
I'll be in Harlestone on Thursday. Happy to drop some in early afternoon if you want to give it a try.

Have you spoken to the guy who did the respray - I assume he would need to be sticking badges back on to cars he’s done?

He didn't do it - think he was concerned about damaging the fairly thin pressed metal of the badge for some reason.

Badge back in place - thanks very much for the adhesive strips Tony! Feels secure enough. Sorry it took so long, had to wait until I'd had another chance to clean it first...

Glad it works. Now you've confirmed I can remove my badge for a good clean and repaint. Its looking rather tired.
