The dog-leg Getrags weren't fitted to the Elite/Eclat - conventional pattern. I think the dog-leg boxes were on the BMWs and possibly others of the same period.

Pete
Pete, the gear pattern for the S2 is reverse top left, 5th top right, and gears 1-4 in an H pattern - from my handbook. I've been trying to post a picture but OneDrive keeps freezing!

Cheers, Richard

Ah right, probably a good thing. The BMW had a pattern like this:

which was OK on fast roads but a bit of a PITA in traffic. Also could be a bit confusing if you're switching back and forth with a "normal" car. Fortunately the strong detent into reverse made it difficult to pull away backwards at traffic lights.....which is nice.

Ebay.co.uk has a couple of knobs on currently.
By the time you've had one made and 3D printed an insert it might be worth considering.
I found this by searching on "elan + 2"

Tony
I missed it. I will try the old solution. :(

I see it went for £58. Quite pricey. A lot of money for originality.

Nice job - it will be good if we can see the gear knob when it is complete?

Cheers

As well as lookig great, it's very close to the original as the original inserts (cast ali) had stippling on the flat background so the natural pattern from a 3D printer isn't very different.

Really smart. Impressed. Loving what these 3D printers can do.

That's superb! Really great piece of work.

I think you could be taking orders for those if you wanted to produce a few more....

It's so good I've got a couple of questions: Is it possible to spray paint the 3D printed part? And if it is, what paint would you use?
