heater control cables

Post by andy brad »

I have taken all the dash out as the heater air con controls have all sized up this has happened before a trick i have learnt over the years slide some plastic tube over the control cables put some locking wire over the new bit of pipe and wind away until it closes up on the outer control cable then fill with oil i used tie raps to hold the cables upright before filling with oil. andy

May I tag along with your post please.
Recently purchased Excel: heater levers move, just, it feels like I'm putting too much force into them and sooner or later something is going to break. How do I get to the controls, particularly where they seize please?
Thanks in advance

My controls are very tight, so removed front panel this afternoon.
How do the cable outers disconnect from the control panel. Nothing in the manual, and can't find anything on here.
I assume the white plastic clip holding the outer can be removed from the panel? Pair of pliers from behind?
I have a hydraulic cable oiler ready to use but need the cable free first.

I think you're right Tony - the plastic retaining clips come out, but ISTR that they are rather fragile.

Confirmed. A simple two legged barb. Two small screw drivers, one in each leg, and easy push out without damage. Fiddly but too hard.
Now to free the cables.
