Sunvisor change

All the bright weather we have had over the past few weeks has prompted me into fettling my droopy sunvisors which were also looking a bit tatty on one edge. Rather than try to re-cover them myself I decided to replace them with some modern "single-pivot" ones which would allow them to be swivelled onto the side windows. This also gave me an excuse for a mooch around my local scrapyard on a sunny afternoon looking for some suitably sized items.

I decided Rover 75 visors were good fit and now have visors to shield the sun from front and side windows. The mounting holes for the originals have been plugged with a couple of discreet blanks. I've kept the old ones just in case I should ever want to return things to O.E.

how do you get the other visor out? and any chnce of some pics?

You need to remove the rail which runs above the windscreen. It's held on, from memory, by the screws which you can see when the visors are down plus some which are involved in the mirror mounting and then there are clips around the edges above the doors. Removal can be done by one person - refitting needs two.

Once the rail is down you can get to the nuts which hold the sunvisors in place.

The clips which hold the end of the visors nearest the rear view mirror are from a Rover 400. I used them rather than the ones from the Rover 75 as they only needed a small hole for a self-tapper to fasten them onto the header rail.

I normally get my scrap parts in Newburn - either Norman Marshalls (pricey but has late model wrecks) or Pringles (and get covered in clarts). Incidentally Pringles currently have a SD1 in stock with a very nice pair of rear lights @ £10 each.

I was able to re-fit the header rail by myself - although it would have been easier with another pair of hands

I just binned mine when i re-did all the headlining myself, and went straight over the old holes with the new material, you would never know they where there now...
prefer it without them...

just keep some good sun glasses to hand

Admit it Ozzy, the shades have nothing to do with the lack of sunvisors. You just keep them to look kool behind the wheel

Un clip the harnesses, and presto, baby seat goes right in...
