The Resto show is now less than 3 weeks away. Can I have any volunteers to help be on the stand?
I should get confirmation next week on our exact number of exhibitor wristbands (there should be a bonus one or two thanks to publicity efforts), but as a starting point we get 2 for the organiser + 2 per car, so 8 wristbands per day. Priority of course goes to those who will be bringing cars (Pete B, Matt O, Mark R) plus organiser (me) and Alan M who will be doing carburettor rebuilding on a table.
If anyone who hasn't been to this (or the November NEC show) is considering coming, you will be very welcome! Some things to note:
- Realistically we need to keep at least 3-4 people on the stand at any time, so there is more than ample opportunity to wander around and check out the rest of the show as well as hosting on the stand.
- We don't run a rota for when people have to been there during each day, but make sure there are still enough people still on the stand before you disappear off.
- A reasonable background knowledge of the cars is useful, as guests will ask all sorts of questions, but no-one is expected to be an expert or know everything!
- You can volunteer for the whole 3 days, or just one or two days. If we get more volunteers than wristbands I'll share duties out as best I can to make sure everyone gets a shot.
- It costs nothing to come along and volunteer (other than your own travel of course), and is a great way to get into this excellent show for nothing. Car parking at the NEC is exhorbitant, but we get 3 free parking passes which are transferrable and usually sufficient.
I will not be there on Sunday (I'll be on a 'plane!), so that opens up another slot. Alan M has very thoughtfully volunteered to take all the club display equipment away with him on Sunday evening, since I will not be there to do so.
Stu (Hawaiis0) - do you want to bring along those seat belt brackets to sell? Will you be volunteering to be on the stand?
