NEC Restoration Show 2024 - Discounted Tickets

Post by rbgosling »

It's that time again - tickets on sale for the 2024 Restoration Show at the NEC!

This year we will have the following attractions:
  • Celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the Lotus Elite - the car that kicked off the Grand Tourers
  • Pete Boole's mid-restoration early Elite
  • A prototype Elite Coupe - from before it became the Eclat, courtesy of new owner Mark Robinson
  • An Esprit with body separated from chassis, courtesy of Matt Oxley
  • Alan hopefully will have some on-bench repair work, carb rebuild and/or differential seals
Our space backs on to the Sunbeam Lotus', and between us we are the only Lotus representatives at the show.

As usual, if you purchase tickets using our club discount, not only does it save you money, but if bought before the end of February it can get us extra wristbands, as well as improving our profile and so our chances of getting a decent stand at future shows. Code is as below:

N.B. the rule from previous years about keeping the code secret to members only has been lifted, so this code can be made as widely available as we like, and publicised anywhere we want. I'll get it on the various FB groups as soon as I can get around to it...

Well, almost. We can publicise it anywhere that belongs to our group - including our FB page - even if it can be accessed by anyone. We cannot plaster our code places that aren't ours. So on the other FB pages I've suggested people may want to visit this website to access the discount, but not explicitly given the code, which I hope is more of a "bend not break the rules" (to quote Suggs).

I thought bending the rules is actually a rule in Formula 1 so if its good enough for them.......

If you are coming as a visitor (rather than to work the stand), you can apparently save £5 on the (exhorbitant) NEC car parking by booking in advance.

There will be a strictly limited number of car park passes for the club, which will be for those who volunteer to man our stand.

We made the Resto Show News! OK, I wrote an article, and it's up on the show's website here.

If you have any comments or corrections (don't be shy) it's not too late for me to do some more editing.

Is the stand number correct? When I booked a slot for build-up day the lady on the phone told me we were on 3-090

Yup, that stand number is definitely correct. Maybe she has last year’s information - we were in hall 3 last year?

Nice mention in a marketing email from the show this morning!

The celebrations continue...
Join the Lotus Grand Tourers club in celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Lotus Elite Type 75! The Elite Lotus serves as a landmark car for Lotus – often viewed as one of the first products of Colin Chapman which pushed the Lotus brand into the premium marketplace of the sportscar industry.

To celebrate this occasion the Lotus Grand Tourers will be showcasing:

A 1974 Elite – this vehicle will be mid-way through its restoration journey.

A pre-production prototype of the Elite Couple

An Espirit, currently undergoing a range of restoration and repair processes.

Swing by the Lotus Grand Tourers Club in Hall 5 (stand 5-235) to join the celebration!

One more week to go to get discounted tickets! OK, they are still discounted after this time, but if we can sell two more tickets using the club code by 29th Feb, we will get an additional wristband for those helping on the club stand.

Tickets can be booked here, and use the code:

S24CC917

We've been getting some good publicity for our Elite 50th Anniversary celebrations, so I'm hoping for a busy weekend.

Good morning! The "Pocket Guide" for the show will be published tomorrow, but as an exhibitor we get access a day early. This small pamphlet replaces the rather larger glossy programme they used to do, and contains all the info about show times, stands, layout, and what's on the live stage etc.

If you want to take a look, it can be downloaded here, and there is still time to take advantage of our discount code to buy tickets.
