Malcolm Ricketts Open Day - Saturday 10th Sept 2022, 12:00 to 18:00

Post by ChrisJ »

Malcolm Ricketts will be holding his popular Open Day at the Old Dairy Barn, Lamer Lane, Wheathampsted AL4 8RG on Saturday September 10th. He will have several unusual Lotus cars on display and a BBQ will be provided in exchange for a donation to his local charity The Isabel Hospice. Ample parking, including space for trailers and unloading facilities. 12 noon until 18.00

I'm going to be there in my Excel - I alternate meetings between my Esprit and Excel - would be great to put some faces to usernames.

Castle Donington Classic a couple of years ago.

I seem to remember the owner telling me that it was the only one painted that colour. I sent him some copies of my photos, but my minds gone blank on his name (it's my age...you know)

Malcolm Palmer is the man with the yellow Excel.

Nice to see such a good display at Malcolm Ricketts open day - went there three years ago myself. He is a very generous man.

Cheers, Richard

Well, there used to be a yellow Excel in the Darlington area.

Saw one in the car park of Darlington Hospital about 9 years ago, in excellent condition and looked to be original paint.

So, unless the above yellow Excel was the one present in the car park at the time, there is probably more than one yellow Excel.

I have seen that car a few times over the years. Below in 2013 at the Lotus Festival Brands Hatch. Can't remember if it was originally yellow or not. I know I have come across a yellow one somewhere that was originally red

I think the one in the photos was yellow from new. C135TPD was the one that was originally red but now yellow. It belonged to a friend of mine and at one stage (2007) I was looking at buying it. It has, I understand, passed through a couple of owners since then.
