NEC Classic Motor Show 2021

Post by richardw »

This is a duplicate of the message in Information and Services, so that all visitors (not just members) can see it.

I’m pleased to announce that we will be exhibiting at this year’s show. As a result we are able to offer members tickets at a concessionary price.

For the club discount code you will need to visit this topic in the Information and Services section, which is restricted to registered members only. If you are not already a member, joining is easy and free.

We will be on stand 5-350, next door to Club Lotus.

Finally, and rather importantly, we are looking for cars to exhibit. I believe we are able to display 3 or perhaps 4 cars, and as this is the first show at which we’ll be exhibiting as The Lotus Grand Tourers, one nice example each of the Elite, Eclat and Excel would be ideal to showcase the concept. Hint - we always seem to be short of Eclats! Please reply to this post if you’d like to volunteer your car.

Will follow up with more detail as I receive it.

Cheers, Richard

We’re very short of cars this year - not sure if people are worried about COVID etc or how the show will be run. So this is a last call - we really need a nice Eclat and ideally a similar Elite so that we can showcase each model on the Lotus Grand Tourers stand.

thanks, Richard

I notice there is a pillar in the stand - this can be a positive as it give you a chance to put a banner up where it can be seen around the hall.
Looking forward to working next to you guys again on the Club Lotus stand

Yes Phil, this weekends job is to locate some sufficiently high resolution images that we can use!

Do you still have the notice board that Chris bought? I think there were some pictures in the box.

I have the one I bought. I'll look to see if there are any inside.

Lotus next to us, Marcos to the north, all we need is TVR for an all-round fibreglass sports car hub! I see we are only a couple of stands away from the Long Buckby Classic Car Meet, that's nice, that's my local club I hang out with from time to time.

Guess what? The notice board I mentioned above was at the back of my garage!
Do you want me to bring it? If so, I don't really want it back. I am already storing a load of stuff for Club Lotus and could do with the space. It fits in the back of an Excel so someone who is showing their car could volunteer to take it with them please. Alan Moss used to keep it then I volunteered to keep it about 10 years ago so got to be someone else's turn. Please let me know.

OK Will do. I think Chris Wright (chrisw2811) kindly donated it to the forum many moons ago.

Stand looking good at the NEC.

Thanks to Tony (Metblue) for the Excel and Tim for the Eclat. Great examples! Thanks also to Lotusbits for the display engine, to Stu for struggling up to help with a bad back, and to Phil for the calendars and display.

And we had some rather strange visitors...

Apparently there was a cosplay event going on. I learnt something today.

Anyway, thanks to Tim, Alan, Tony, Peter and Mike and Matt from Lotusbits for being on the stand today.
