Virtual meetings anyone?

Any social or anti-social get togethers, track days, shows, stag nights etc. that may be of interest to members. The occational blast down the road, or trip down to the local.

Virtual meetings anyone?

Post by richardw »

As we are all locked in and unable to attend events, would anyone be interested in regular 'virtual' meetings run over Zoom or similar? I'd suggest monthly to start with, initially as a meet & greet and catch-up, but then developing into themed meetings such as technical q&a with some of the more knowledgeable people on the forum, restoration stories, and maybe also inviting guest speakers.

If you're interested please reply and let me know simply so I have the feedback I need - no commitment! I'm also posting this message on TLF for owners there to consider participating.

Cheers, Richard

I don't have any meetings local to me (that I know of) so would be up for this. Can't do Thursday evening as that is virtual pun night with some old work colleagues. Free otherwise.

Thanks all, there are another three owners interested on TLF. I'll look into platforms other than Zoom (the free version limits the length of the call to 40 minutes) - someone has suggested HouseParty, which I'm not familiar with.

Had a Zoom meeting the other day and the time restriction was lifted during meet-up so we could, and did, go on for over 2 hours. We think it's their contribution to helping with dealing with Covid-19.

I've used Zoom, Google Meet, Skype and Cisco Webex in the last few weeks and Zoom is by far the superior, IMHO.

Thanks all, I feel Zoom is the best choice so far especially if they lift the 40 minute restriction - thanks for the feedback Hodders.

Let's aim for one evening next week - how about Tuesday at 6pm?

Had another Zoom meeting with friends this evening and it was limited to 40minutes. It may be that your first meeting is unlimited but subsequent ones are.

General update - if we're kicked off after 40 minutes apparently we just need to sign back in to the same meeting - so my daughter tells me!
