NEC Classic Motor Show 2024
The Classic Motor Show is again happening in November this year. We will be celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Lotus Elite, and are looking for owners who might be willing to bring a car to display. We have space for four cars, with one already volunteered, so if you are interested in bringing yours please message me.

Re: NEC Classic Motor Show 2024
Hi Richard, I'd be happy to 'submit' mine, but as it was only there 2 years previously I understand it may be better to favour others.
I would not be able to be there personally on the Sunday 'public time' as have another engagement in Gaydon on that day. I would be able to get there for the clear up / move the car out late in the day though.
'Refreshed' bumpers are going back on today...

Re: NEC Classic Motor Show 2024
We have a few Elites on the list. This is an opportunity to make a good show for the 50th anniversary, following the 14 Elites that showed up for the Lotus Remembered celebration at Hethel last weekend!
If anybody would like to volunteer to help on the stand please let me know. Helpers get free show passes up to our allocation.
Cheers, Richard

Re: NEC Classic Motor Show 2024
I could come along on Sunday, so I can bring home the display equipment in anticipation of the Resto show in March. I'll need a car park pass too, I'm not taking that lot home on the train! Unless Tony is going on Sunday and would be kind enough to volunteer to pick up the stuff, since his journey home comes straight past my place?

I’m more than happy to volunteer for any/all days.
Assume you’re all sorted for display cars?

I'm available pending my annual Covid dose due around then.
We need to know display car owners and their intentions prior to manning out the stand.

Re: NEC Classic Motor Show 2024
So to confirm. I'm down to have my Elite on the stand. Will be there with it on the Thursday afternoon to help set up etc. Will be able to be at the stand (with Maria) Friday and Saturday, but we will be somewhere else on Sunday until late afternoon, when we will be back to remove the Elite and help clear up. We have booked accommodation, off site near Coventry and will use our old persons bus passes to travel to and fro when the Elite is 'showing'.richardw wrote: ↑Wed Oct 02, 2024 23:05We have a few Elites on the list. Re: NEC Classic Motor Show 2024
It’s looking like we will have a full house of Elites on the stand. We have Andy’s and Marcus’s cars volunteered here and as we have had no other offers I invited the Elite 50th concours winners to display their cars on the stand also, which they have accepted.
So the full list is:
Colin Pears - yellow S1 - immaculate - concours winner
Gary Mavers (TV and YouTube personality) - extremely original one previous owner S1 - red - concours runner up
Marcus Horrell - white S1 - recently restored - immaculate
Andy Webber - bronze S1 with vinyl roof - in daily use and magnificent
I’m very sorry there are no Eclats, Excels or Esprits on show but as we didn’t have cars volunteered we will have to make do with Elites!
I aim to contact as many motoring editors and journalists as I can to let them know about our 50th anniversary display, and maybe the coverage we get will help kickstart the image of the full range of cars.
Edit:
I will contact display car owners to establish how many passes they will need and therefore how many free passes will be available for volunteers.
Cheers, Richard

Re: NEC Classic Motor Show 2024
'Bronze' Richard? Mike Kimberly called it 'Championship Gold' last Saturday......(Andretti - Lotus 79, a couple of months before it's build date)?
Thanks for organizing a great line up....

Re: NEC Classic Motor Show 2024
That's a coup getting Gary Mavers' car on the stand! He came over for a chat not long after he bought that car, a year or two back at the March Resto show, it was delightful talking to him. I hope he gets to spend some good time on the stand - having a recognised "celebrity" hanging around can't hurt! Don't suppose he has any "Classic Obsession" display stuff to help showcase the car and draw the crowds in?
