NEW OWNER - 1992 EXCEL SE

Hi all,

New owner of 1992 Excel SE, and new to Lotus altogether.

K694 CGM

One of the very last of them.

From what I can gather it's one of the last made (possibly 16?) and maybe one of the last 5 registered.

There was a topic about the car under " Cars for sale". I've discussed the condition etc. there.

Interested to know if anybody has any info on the car, history, build no. etc.

Looking forward to getting to know the community here.

I've looked at the register for your car and can't tell you much you don't already know. It is the 20th of 33 post Celebration cars. Many cars have had private plates at some point in their lives, but your's seems to have been on the same plate it's whole life. Of the 33, 10 were Red, presume Calypso Red. There's another 6 Silk Reds.

Nice to hear, and I've never been a fan of private plates, so that's a plus.

On the colour, in the ad, the seller referred to the colour as carnival red. I take that this is wrong and that the correct name is Calypso Red.
Was there a name on the trim? It's perforated leather as opposed to the rouched leather that I've commonly seen so far.

Your Colour code is on the VIN plate on the right inner wing.

Possibly B03

Format is one alpha and two digits normally

The paint code for Calypso Red on my 1990 car is A23, I think that would most likely have been the same for yours.

Welcome to the forum Dwayne, you'll not regret becoming an Excel owner, I'm onto my second.

My current car is like yours a very late model "K" with perforated leather trim. I think mine is one of only 2 or possibly 3 Excels made in Aqua Blue. When I bought it the owner told me it was one of the last made.
