Newbie to forum (not to lotus)

Post by KJB3L »

Good evening from the North West of UK & thanks for accepting me to the forum.
I have been a Club Lotus member since the early eighties & have owned - S4 drophead/S4 FHC/Elan +2/Elise 220 Sport
I am now minus a Lotus (although have a Scimitar GTE & Hillman Imp)
I am now seriously thinking of buying an Excel (my best friend had an SE which his son now owns) hence my appearance on here.
All the best
Andrew

Welcome Andrew, you have found the best searchable source of reliable Excel information. We are a very friendly bunch with a good sense of humour. It sounds like you are on the edge of making your best Lotus decision, good luck.

Welcome Andrew. You won't regret an Excel if you go for it. Such good value still compared to most other Lotus models.
Plenty of help and knowledge to be tapped into on the forum.
Project, running resto or nice runner?

Looking for the best I can get (no projects) up to 15k ish - was going to look at the one at auction at Manor Park Classics (only 1 hr away) but they have just updated all the photos & underneath not as clean as I would like? BUT I may still have a run out there on Saturday.
Cheers
Andrew

Welcome!

Only a few years back, even the very best Excels would be unlikely to be over £10k. Even now, a budget of £15k should buy you pretty much any car you want. Get in now before prices rise further!

1990 Lotus Excel SE (Lilith)
2022 MG MG5 EV (not due to be a classic for quite a few years...)
2011 Nissan Leaf (Ragly - EV pioneer, must be due to be a classic one day)

Thanks - was looking at the pictures of it last night - not sure on the colour combination although I don't think the photos/lighting do it justice?
Cheers Andrew
