Well I finally brought myself a Lotus Excel and thought its time I said HI (been lurking not the forum for a while).
Back in 82 I had a ride in one and always hoped to get one eventually.
It has a few faults, mainly electrical but I don't mind after all its a LOTUS
I had it almost two months now and still have a silly grin on my face every time I take it out on the road.
OMG - what have I done - lol

Thanks for the welcome’s and I’m based in the South West, weston super mare.
Already started taking the car to bits….. I seem to do that with everything
Have fixed some of the electrical issues, replaced the speedo, the car came with a spare, and lubbed the drive cable at the same time - the old one speedo just did it own thing.
The fuel gauge reads full all the time, faulty sender unit but to get the tank out had to cut off the rubber filler pipe, no way that was coming off any other way, just waiting for a replacement pipe from SJ.
Oh and the exhaust Y section has sheared…. boy is the car loud
So not only do I get to enjoy driving a classic I get to use my spanner’s as well - win win

Sounds like your are the perfect owner for a lotus. There's always another job that can be done.
Trick is to get the correct balance between enjoying driving the car and spannering.
