Re: Excel - My new daily Driver
It's good to hear of an early Excel being saved Rafael. Excels do make viable daily drivers, mine is used 12 months per year and I'm not the only owner to do that. I use Maxxis AP2 all season tyres during winter. On the subject of plastic coatings this may be of use to you https://www.youtube.com/wa...

That is a very generous gesture, I think I can guess where it came from.

Re: split rims
My experience with fitting larger rims has some regrets, performance-wise. I 've done this with the Clan - not the Excel  . I went from 12 inch rims to 13 inch which doesn't sound like much, but you immediately become aware of the increase when lifting the wheel to fit them! The bigger rims g...

Re: split rims
Would 16" wheels not allow a better choice of tyres without looking too OTT ?
I've been mulling this over for ages after seeing the wheels on RR HANS' Excel

I'm one of those who has had nothing but good service over the years from SJ and especially Lotusbits. Having said that I can see where Don is coming from re his recent unfortunate experience

Re: Rear badge attachment
I used Black Tac to mount my rear badges. No danger of damage to the paintwork and they can be easily removed when doing a spring clean. It also means in the unlikely event someone wants to pinch the badges at least there would be no damage to the bodywork

Re: Fuel pump crush washer
I wouldn't use PTFE in this application. When I fitted a replacement pump to my Excel I considered using PTFE on the joints but first tried dropping a piece of tape into a cup of petrol. I found petrol dissolved the PTFE

Re: LITP 2021
Just to say Claire and I really enjoyed the company and thanks to Mr and Mrs Boole for sorting out a very scenic run on the Sunday. I cured the horrendous brake judder on my car at home with a replacement caliper securing bolt - I blame the idiot who fitted new discs and pads last autumn... I...

Re: LITP 2021
I was thinking of trying to get away for 8:00 - see if the hotel will set up for breakfast slightly earlier for us - they only offer continental anyway - no cooking needed. Pete Good luck with persuading them, seems like they don’t quite understand the concept of customer 😆 As Basil Fawlty once sai...
