Loctite AV?

Looking at the service notes the flywheel requires 'Loctite AV' to be used on the crank threads.. However it seems difficult to find, is there a suitable alternative or does anyone know of a reliable source for this?

Re: Heater issues.

Don't have to blame the factory - you've got 30-40 years of Previous Owners who could have removed the vents for any number of reasons, and found it too much faff to put them back properly. Good point.. there's a receipt for supply and fitting of a wiper motor from Paul Matty I have found while loo...

Heater issues.

The heater distribution and temperature controls on my 1990 car were 'loose' and sized solid. I should explain, the levers feel like nothing is really attached but they would not move. Further investigation reveals they share the same pivot on the back of the heater panel, however the bottom part th...

Re: Headlight mounting/hinges

Now I have photos! they don't have any stops on them. I think it all just needs carful reassembly and some of the pivot points moving Passenger side front Headlight as you can see it's not sitting level when down https://am3pap003files.storage.live.com/y4mPO4X502VljC6pT7B1-0OzZpkaP1zn7rfxaMnWSpuTLXg...

Headlight mounting/hinges

Now my car has arrived with me and I have had a chance to look at it, I've noticed the drivers side headlight leans slightly outward when its up, and that the passenger side one sits slightly twisted when lowered. I ran a bit of tape from one side to the other along the line of the two outer headlig...

Re: Just bought a semi dismantled Excel.. What could go possibly go wrong!

Well the car has arrived. As is often the case with remote purchases in some ways not as nice as thought and in others better than expected. The brakes and it seems nearly all the electrics outside both doors work! However.. there is a lot of blistering on the front of the car and the headlining has...

Re: Re built engine check over

I did on my MGs, and the sprite, crank them long enough and they would build upto full cold oil pressure!

The safest policy is full paranoia.. The engine had had new pistons, rings and liners, it’s also had the crank reground and new cams

Re built engine check over

Hi, I have recently purchased a kit of Excel parts, a complete car in fact. The previous owner has rebuilt the engine over the past two years but it has not been installed or run, I plan to do a compression check on it and fit it with an oil pressure gauge and see what pressure it reaches while bein...

Hi Welcome.

You don't need the electronic speedo for cruise control.

You could try retrofit the lotus (BMW VDO) cable driven system fitted to the SA - as per mine. And yes it does work :).

Stu

ps where are you located? I need some spares

Re: Just bought a semi dismantled Excel.. What could go possibly go wrong!

I have no idea when it last ran, but it will have been a long time ago. The chap I bought it off has had it two years and he rebuild the engine, apparently one of the liners was beyond hope (I will post pics of that as all the removed parts will be with it) I do know there are no recorded MOTs onlin...

Re: Elite 4th most beautiful car since 1950

It might be sloppy research on the part of whoever supplied the photos.... the Elite is one of the most beautiful cars since 1950, but that would be the Mk14 Elite! Image

Just bought a semi dismantled Excel.. What could go possibly go wrong!

Hi I have just bought a large 3d Jisgsaw puzzle of I believe a lotus Excel fortunately it's not one of the 5000 piece variety (Yet). I found it on Ebay I like the colour (Anyone know what the colour is for when I get round to painting it..) The engine is alleged to have been recently rebuilt with ne...
