Re: 1 step forward, 2 steps back...

I had a problem with the wires to the pickup inside the distributor. They flex as the vac advance causes the baseplate to rotate and this movement over time can cause the wires to fracture. This caused a momentary misfire as the throttle (and hence vac) changed along with a minor glitch on the rev c...

Re: Lotus Esprit V8 TURBO REAR brembo calipers

They're not from a V8 Esprit at all. All V8 Esprits (including the ones with AP racing rear discs) used a single piston sliding brembo caliper that has a handbrake mechanism built into it. They are the same as the Elise rear calipers and were borrowed from a variety of renaults such as some models o...

Set of 5 OZ Wheels and 6 215/50x15 ZR tyres for sale

Due to running on 17's with big brakes, I've realised I'm never going to use my OZ wheels again so they're up for grabs! There are 5 wheels, 3 are really nice, one has kerbing but is straight, the last is straight with no kerbing but has been refurbed (badly) in the past and has flaking paint / powd...

Re: fuel pump

The pump is next to the fuel tank, behind the battery. The fuel filter is below it. Turn the ignition on and give the end of the fuel pump (wires end, not pipe end) a clout with the handle of a hammer or large screwdriver and you should hear a fast tick tick tick .. gradually slowing and stopping as...

Re: Rear seat belt Brackets

I managed to get mole grips to hold on the bracket / captive nut, jammed against the bodywork / wishbone, then a big ratchet inside wound the bolts out without any cutting or grinding. I did clean up the threads with a wire brush and soak with WD40 first, and they were still reluctant ... The bolts ...

Re: VDO Gages...

Take them out, pull out the bulb holders and stick them in the airing cupboard ... or, put your side lights on and leave a battery charger connected ... the heat from the bulb will probably dry them out.

Mine does this if left for a while without being use .. regular use should sort it ...

Re: Advice needed on Cam belt, otter switch, doors, wiper please

As a quick check to work out if it is a wiring short or the fan motor, you could disconnect both motors and short the otter again. If a fuse still blows you have a wiring fault, if it doesn't, you have a shorted motor / partially seized motor. Do either of the fans run? Or neither and just one blown...

Re: Advice needed on Cam belt, otter switch, doors, wiper please

Pull the two connectors from the otter switch and touch them together with the ignition switched on. Do NOT short the wires to the fans or you will need another 10amp fuse ...

Re: DIGITAL FAN TEMP CONTROLLER

ACC stands for accessories ... this circuit from the ignition switch will provide power for the radio, ie, the first notch on the ignition switch. You should be able to trace this to the ignition switch (or relay if there is one for accesories).

Re: Advice needed on Cam belt, otter switch, doors, wiper please

The brief chatter of the relay seems to always be there on my car ... the faulty otter would cause the buzz for 5 secs or more. I'm still surprised at the switching temperature of yours though... Maybe worth checking with one of those infra-red temp sensors to work out if it's a dodgy temperature se...
