Re: First job jobbed - 2 more found !!!

Were in the doldrums waiting for the makers of all things clean and shiny to return may rear suspension. My decision having now stripped all down is that the rubber bushes are staying - everywhere. They're in good nick and Poly bushes work differently to rubber ones, so I'll stay with the original l...

Re: NEW OWNER - 1992 EXCEL SE

Nice Avatar Dwayne. Next mission is to crack posting photo's . Not the easiest but this should help. https://www.lotusexcel.net/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=11571 I've looked at the register for your car and can't tell you much you don't already know. It is the 20th of 33 post Celebration cars. Many cars hav...

Re: Toyota key... original?

I can't imagine any car company providing keys branded with a competitor.
My key has the black head, but unbranded.
Blanks can be bought in USA for pennies. I've been tempted before now to buy 10 or 20, but never got the need.

Re: Last one (allegedly)

Welcome Dwayne. As others have said, I wouldn't get hung up on the mileage. As others already said, far more important is level of use and general condition. Most things are easily sorted and reasonably economical, especially if you can swing a spanner. Sounds like you have a good attention to detai...

Re: S1 Eclat front spoiler query

Here's a photo of the original "lower" grill - Use your imagination to fill in the blanks. https://www.dropbox.com/s/s9e5ckkkkn1lm3r/230228a.jpg?raw=1 You can just make out the remnants of a tab on the left and right that had a self tapper into the ply wood crash boards, and a wavy spring clip...

Re: S1 Eclat front spoiler query

Hi and Welcome. That yellow grill is nothing to do with Lotus original fitment. The grill sits behind the opening on the body underside (It the same width as between the Ply crash boards). They all rot to nothing on the first 5 years of life, but I think originals are still available. As Pete, I'm in...

Re: Original New S2.2 Elite, Eclat and Esprit News Release from 1980

Interesting section on sun visors.
Did they actually do this (90 degree swing?)
Unless it didn't work, surely it would have stayed through into Excel production.

Re: First job jobbed - 2 more found !!!

This weeks prize for intuition goes to Mr Boole. I mentioned on this weeks team meet that when I removed the brake pipe gland nut from the rear calipers, the pipe still wouldn't come out of the caliper. With a bit of wriggling, it was out, but the end was clearly quite damaged. Looking inside the ca...

Re: Brake Shims

Meant to add that neither front or rear of my car had any shims between the pad and piston.
Was not a problem before my overhaul. We'll see if they start squealing now they are free to slide and work properly

Re: Brake Shims

SJ have the fronts, but want £45 for the rears. Just searched SJ site on "Brake Shim" and top hit is A089J8076S - Shims on back of Rear Brake pad. - £15.12 inc VAT. I know postage can take a hit, but hopefully not £30 now :D Looking in parts list though, I can't find that number - but then the anti...

Re: Late Excel SE

I am looking for either a Celebration or 91/92 SE, low mileage, good history, HPI clear that has been kept in a dry environment by a long term owner From the register we're building, I can put some numbers to your search. There are ONLY 75 cars in the category you specify. 28 off these have MOT's o...
