Re: Winterbottom Run 2023

I like the idea of integrating with one of the other calendar events. Doing our own run on the Saturday of LITP this year sounds good to me. Lets face it, there ain't a lot of reasons to visit Norfolk once you've ticked the Lotus connection. If we are going to keep it live, maybe a 5 year roll aroun...

Re: LITP 2023

Me getting round to ringing The Manifold is a bit like the progress on the Elite - Takes a while to get around to it. Situation is they have 8 rooms still available to book, plus the Cottage (has a double room and a twin, rented together for £180 per night). It ticked all the boxes for me las...

Re: How do you buy an Excel?

Is it the Celebration on Car & Classic in Kings Langley that messed you around? If so, owner tried to sell it on Ebay in Sept 2022, but it didn't reach his reserve, so didn't sell. If not, there's 2 sources you need to keep your eye on. Keep looking. If you have a solid budget, you'll find the right...

Good watch and look forward to seeing progress.
What struck me as it was trailered away was it was no higher than the modern towing it, even though it was on a trailer. 😀

Re: LITP 2023

Looks like the Sunday is in Eyam. A fair drive from the Manifold, but not much difference to last year.
I'll give them a call tomorrow and see how busy they are that weekend.

Re: Anglia Car Auctions Elite

That's got to be good value Andy.
I see no reason why a well sorted, regularly used Elite shouldn't be at least as much if not higher than an equivalent Excel.

Re: Grand Tourers Register

Out of interest do you know if total production numbers include the 5 pre-production cars Also how many SAs are there on the register? I have 22 SA's currently on the register. 18 off MY 86 onwards and 4 off MY 89's. The count in my sheet for RHD Narrow body car of 505 excludes the 5 pre production...

Re: Anglia Car Auctions Elite

Good to see an old car with an MOT, but only about 2 months before it expires.
Cars only got 1 MOT record since 2005, and it's done only 300 miles since last March, so I'd say £5K was about right as long as it has a good chassis. Could be a bit of a lottery though if not.

I'm planning on attending this. If there's enough of us, would be good to try for a reserved slot.

Re: Representing the third generation….

Same thing happened to the Imp Club Forum. FB gained traction and the forum is now a ghost-town. The common denominator is that it's too hard to post photos on the forum and dead easy to do it on FB. Also, there are no 'forum rules' on facebook and trading parts (with pictures) is MUCH easier on FB...

Re: On Ebay Lotus EXCEL / ECLAT 1983 3 previous owners, 42,000 recorded miles (unverified)

This car was on Ebay last Sept as an unfinished project with no MOT. DVLA shows an owner change in Oct 2022, and a fresh MOT, so looks to me like someone's done a fast turn around on completing it. Good it's back on the road, but any new owner should expect a bit of shake down time. Doesn't look to ...

Re: Elite/Eclat front seats

Let's have a chat on the next Zoom meet Pete.
I have two spares, that last time I looked had decent foam. was thinking of doing 2 seats in leather and 2 to the original trim, so not exactly spare, but if it's patterns your looking for, I may be able to help.

Re: Excel Values - Europe

From the register we are building, I can offer some ball park numbers to this discussion. Based on Lotus data for VIN's, there were 1993 Domestic Excels manufactured and only 211 Export models (presume majority LHD). Of the Domestic cars, I now have sight of around 20% of the production. Of these, 1...
