Re: NEC - November 2019
Exhibitors should now have an email from me with assorted passes and rules & regs. Once I've received replies from them about how many wristbands and parking passes they need, I'll be in a position to sort things out with the other volunteers.

Re: Headlights
you won't find a direct replacement with the same fitting, but any standard 7" reflector (as used on classic Land Rover, Mini etc.) will fit if you're willing to modify the mounts a little. My effort is here: http://www.lotusexcel.net/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=4900 and a few others have fitted LED r...

Re: NEC - November 2019
Right - finally got confirmation that the restoration project Elite is available. So - we have the promised 4 cars booked in.
I'm on the road most of this week, but will try to start sending emails from various hotel rooms.

Re: Service notes, content?
Sorry for showing my ignorance, but what's the difference between the service notes and a workshop manual? It seems that, for the Excel, the service notes are a lot more available than a manual. The workshop manual doesn't exist. There's the Parts Manual, which lists all parts with exploded diagram...

Re: Mystery engine bay connector
Rev limiter is usually further forward and lower down, with just 3 wires going to it from the splice that also feeds the rev counter. Could that be the engine speed sensor for the throttle jack? The wiring colours look right for it. (rev limiter should have white, white/slate and black only) I think...

Re: Alternator
IIRC, when mine were done the guys just used a generic universal brush set that could be cut down to fit.Phantasm wrote:
Can't help on the alternator brushes, that's the same thing I've been asking about.

I concur with m'learned colleague. That does not look like something that was fitted in Norfolk.bash wrote:That looks like a non standard connector to me, I dont recognise it at all.

Re: Alternator
You can do the regulator with the alternator in the car. It's easily accessed when the airbox is off. https://gqedyq.ch.files.1drv.com/y4mrmQLv4QP67EGqB0PXX2F-lOnUsg78eMK8LGstmtDXSaUrp_0RWUe0egOzxMU1WPw8QybIwZZ0VGXV2iPHDD2kBLQxHXXex9Lv7FzEE5Xf1MHucOeoxLpP_5jrtd1Q6LeEjTOh5QxhPQPiRqcNKnDqE8T-P_ELReCtq...

Re: LOTUS EXCEL UNDERTRAY????
Yup, they do. Some of us have a secondary one as well which sits a bit lower and hits speed bumps very well.
It really needs to be there to help hold the radiator in.
The thing on ebay doesn't look like a real one though. I'm not sure it's even the right shape and it has far too many holes in it.

Window frame (passenger/left side)
Brand new frame, damaged in transit - distortion to the top glass run channel. Might be persuaded back into shape if someone feels patient and/or brave. All other sections in good condition and bent to the right shape - could be ideal for someone wanting to repair some frames. Open to offers for clu...

Re: It started with a brake pipe
More like 157K by the looks? Excels have a high mileage capacity and they were used as such. Unless you have every MOT certificate (even then MOT certs have been known to be written post-date- ie back-dated by unscrupulous back street dealers), it's unlikely you have a 57k mileage car. Sorr...

Job done. Service notes balancing method applied - and it worked.

Re: NEC - November 2019
We have space for 4 cars. I think we have an early Excel, an Eclat and 2 Elites volunteered. The Elite 45th (45th of all the 4-seat wedges) is in our entry in the show guide and there will be some relevant material on the stand. BUT, there are some bigger anniversaries (Mini 60th in particular) whic...
