Re: Body Trim Ends

The SJSportscars website, under the part Body trim under I- Information carries a long description for renewing the body side trim. It appears there are no end trims, the strip is prelaid with overhang and once adhesive is cured the ends are trimmed. I could be wrong, but I wonder how many paint job...

Door Water Ingress

Having installed new carpets I am now faced with taping up the window /body joint to avoid water ingress.
I see that SJSportscars offer a sound reducing strip, located at SJO75 U0023 Excel Body section and simply ask Forum members for their experiences of this trim as a water excluder.

Re: What have I bought??

When changing cams and profiles when is there the need to consider valve spring specifications? I found broken springs (two) on a standard 912 LC engine with low mileage, where can you get higher quality springs for upgraded engines? On balancing pistons and conrods, a job I prefer do to myself, I u...

Re: Damper Replacement

Ian, while you are at it check the spring strength/rating. Springs fade with time and the only way to fix it is buy new, at 28 pounds each and no need to shot blast and paint old ones to me is a good deal. If the car is on four wheels on level ground check the distance between top of tyre and body a...

There are alternatives to refurbishment at no extra cost. E-mail me for details.

I can send you the location references of each clip.

Re: My Short Trip

While dismantling etc. it helps us a lot if you take photographs before you start. Just looking at brakes you can fix sticking calipers in many ways, from quick fix to complete renewal including rigid copper pipe. And if you go into suspensions it is the same story. The word cost means different thi...

Re: Oil pressure question

As a latecomer to this post; I have installed and only believe in the mechanical guage readings, not electrical. If I wanted to you can always attach temporarily a precision pressure guage to get absolute readings. I suppose the most important pressure reading is at the ends of the crankshaft, it ca...

Re: Braking bad?

For the bolt to shear off I suspect it was slightly loose and the impact caused by sudden braking caused the shear, and the second bolt might also be loosish. For a graunching sound it is also likely the top bolt failed and the caliper was dragged onto the disc. If it was the lower bolt the caliper ...

Re: Braking bad?

There is an advantage to bleed facing uphill as air in the Master cylinder and slave is more easily displaced out of the cylinders. I know the Excel MC has outlets on one side and someone can argue you need to have the car on a side slope. I never understood how you bleed through an ABS, simply my 8...

Re: Flex Flywheel .... why??

-Has anyone simply machined off on the no-thrust side of the flywheel before balancing the crank? On the Fiat 1800 toc engine we used to skim off two kg, a lot of the mass is for granny driving to the supermarket. The result was a much more lively engine, without changeing cams or other extras. Chea...

Just in case! Could you have a blocked oil vapor pipe causing a pressure behind the oil filler cap?

Re: Club polo shirts, fleeces etc.

Angus, I must have missed somewhere. What is available and what colours plus prices and how do you pay, including for Spain delivery? I would like a blue Elite and green Excel, Large.
For the next batch is it possible to get Calypso red or near?

Many thanks Dave the cog.
