Re: Air purge pump and another connection

Thanks Angus.
It had black flexible pipe like washer pipe before but I wasn't sure whether it need special petrol proof stuff. I'll get some from the local aquatics shop that sells a number of diameters.

Re: Air purge pump and another connection

Pump working again, the spade connector was corroded either from LotusBits wash of the engine bay or 2 month's lack of use. Either way it's back. Can you confirm that the front connector goes to the airbox and the side connector vents down in the engine bay ? What sort of pipe should I use ? I have ...

Re: Air purge pump and another connection

Thank you. I'll reconnect and see if there's any difference. As I said at the beginning, the car has never run so well as it is at present, so thanks to Lotus Bits for that. The flat spot that was evident at around 2,400 rpm has gone and the car picks up cleanly and smoothly. Looking forward to gett...

Re: Air purge pump and another connection

Could someone out there with easy access to their car please confirm which wires should be connected to the top and bottom terminals of the throttle jack please so I make sure it's round the right way.
Thanks

Re: Air purge pump and another connection

Thanks Angus. The pump was working fine when I delivered the car to Lotus Bits. I'll try and take it out tomorrow for a run and get it up to temp to see if replacing the fuse has sorted the problem. I'll put the lower spade terminal back on and see what happens......the car hasn't got air-con and do...

Air purge pump and another connection

Hello. Some help please. Having had the sports exhaust and some other work carried out at Lotus Bits last week, the car is running very well and the 120 miles journey back was totally uneventful and smooth, except for the potholes in the roads....... I did however notice after stopping for some food...

Red Excel E100 ???

Seen yesterday (24th February) just east of Kings Lynn heading west, a very clean and smart looking Excel reg. number E100 ???
I couldn't get the last 3 letters. I think I was on the A47 but I'm not familiar with the area.

Re: Dreaded Roof Lining

Sorry to dig this thread up but I'm in need of a new headlining. I have had the Lotusbits performance exhaust fitted and a few other jobs whilst the car was with them but after 2 weeks of the car standing outside has caused the headlining to bubble and drop. It was previously very tidy. Has anyone o...

Re: Rear seat belts - Elite

I would be tempted to try and get the inertia belts to fit properly rather than go back to static belts. Inertia ones are much more comfortable and easier to use and I believe safer as they will be a more snug fit and so less slack to take up in the event of being needed. Excels manage to accommodat...

Re: 1987 Monaco White SE for sale

More than happy to meet up, I don't see many (in fact any) Excels around here. I only had the removable floor mats replaced as I had put all the interior back in after having the seats / side panels etc re-trimmed in leather and didn't fancy stripping it all out again to change the entire carpet whi...

Re: 1987 Monaco White SE for sale - not anymore

I have decided to keep the Excel and make proper use it in 2015. As the offside rear silencer decided to part company on my final drive of 2014, I have booked the car into Lotus Bits to have their full big bore exhaust system fitted. Whilst the car is with them, I'm also getting the leaking water pu...

Re: Interview with new Lotus CEO

Sense a sensible approach and new dealerships in the expanding global markets can only be a good thing. I do wonder what the breakeven point for the company is in terms of cars sold......914 cars in 5 months isn't a lot so any increase will show a huge uplift in percentage terms. I wish them every s...

Re: which new exhaust to buy?

Thanks for everyone's response....there's clearly a vote in favour of the Lotus Bits big bore system and it is good to hear such universal approval for the system. Only downside is the cost, system only £500 + VAT, Manifold only £850 + VAT, combined £1200 + VAT and manifold and system fitted is £1,6...

Re: which new exhaust to buy?

Old thread I know but seemed the most relevant as my question is about the Lotus Bits big bore manifold and system. I too kmy Excel out for a run this evening and on the way back home whilst on full throttle, the exhaust note suddenly went very deep and on returning home....not far thankfully.....th...
