Re: Rear Caliper

Dave although I have had my front calipers refurbed, one of my rear ones was leaking so they are replacing that with another refurbed one, if like yours they do leak after a while I will end up replacing them with new ones. Can you tell me to save confusion what the part numbers were that you ordere...

Rear Caliper

Does anyone know where I can get a L/H Rear Caliper for my 1990 SE part No. Toyota 47750-14160 from, as Toyota stopped using them in 2011 on the Celica. I have tried the usual suspects but with no avail.

I have tried the link to a web sight from here that sells them but is out of stock.

Re: blimey

I look at the price Esprit go for, a fairly good one is 20k plus I haven't got a Esprit but there doesn't seem to be much difference between that and a Excel but I might be wrong. So perhaps we are under valuing the Excel especially the later ones, and the people selling look at both cars and think ...

Re: blimey

There is a Silver Blue 87 Excel up for sale at Anglia Car Auctions on the 3rd November with no reserve.
It will probably go for less than half of that one.

Re: Front side/indicator lights

You could always just buy a pair of the lens part No. AGEL 4411 AT £8.68 from the same place as I did.

But be aware they do do both styles of pattern so make it clear what sort you require.

Re: Engine Parts Identification

Yes it doesn't have A/C Mr Phantasm that was what I red, that was why I asked the question as to why it's there? It seems to have worked sometime as the coil inside has the insulation rapping around it burnt, but the rest is all rusty. I don't want to just remove it as I don't want to open a can of ...

Re: Engine Parts Identification

Yes it took me a lot of time to do as my classic cars are my hobby now as all the DIY is finished.
That's why I want to replace these two items as they do stand out a bit. Then I want to tackle cleaning the
alloy inlet manifold but without taking it off, once I find something to clean it with.

Engine Parts Identification

Can someone tell me what the square part is, that is on top of the engine behind the alternator with the two wires coming from it?. It looks to me as some form of thermo switch with a coil on. I think the question may has been asked before but I have tried to find it on here under General,Engine & g...

I don't know why the photos didn't show as they did when I did the preview. Now that I have done the rear as well I will try and put the photos on again tomorrow.

Re: Rear Spring/Damper Adjustment

I have taken what you say on board Dave and did jack the one side up clamped the spring lowered the jack and managed to rotate the ring by hand to lower it by 13mm, on that side to even it up a bit. I have only done this so I can at least get out in it as I have had the car 4 months now and only bee...

Re: Rear Spring/Damper Adjustment

Thanks all for the help. My driveway is flat where I done the job. I couldn't have got the springs mixed up as I already had fitted the front ones a couple of weeks ago and did notice the front ones were longer and thicker wire. One thing I forgot to mention was I torqued the damper bolt up with the...

Rear Spring/Damper Adjustment

Hi. Just fitted rear springs and Protech adjustable dampers ( fronts done few weeks back ) to my 1990 Excel. To help a little on answering my questions on fitting I have the dampers adjusted to 6 clicks all round and on measuring the old original cupped dampers, I have set the base of the new ring t...
